'The Crown' by Kiera Cass | Review

A beautifully written love story and an unexpected one!  *spoiler alert*

This book is part of a series called 'the selection', even though it is posterior to the first three ones as the one before this one is. The first three are narrated from the perspective of America, Eadlyn's mother, and the last two books are written in Eadlyn's perspective. When I first meet Eadlyn I came out with the feeling that I didn't like her very much. She shows to be a bit pretentious and a bit selfish too, but with the unexpected selection, she changes making my love for her grow. Reading the books from her perspective was extremely different from reading the books from her mother's perspective, mainly because they are SO different, having different perspectives over the world and also different upbringings, that really made for totally opposite people, but as long as we keep reading we start to understand that they might not actually be that different since they are both strong and independent women.

Let's just stop a minute to talk a little about the feminist aspects of this book! First, she is the 1st girl to have a selection and also the 1st crowned queen!  She is a wonderful and powerful character! It also presents subjects that we are talking about nowadays, like sexual assault, that shows in the book in a moment between Eadlyn and a selected candidate.

Now talking about the story itself.  When all the process of the selection starts Eadlyn doesn't actually think she is going to find her true love through it. But we know she will, we just don't know who. When Kile's name is picked out we get that feeling that he MUST be the one! I fell in love with him the moment he showed up and I really was rooting for him and Eadlyn to end up together and the idea of that not happening was just awful to me since I couldn't picture her with anyone else..  Until she meets Erik, a.k.a Eikko. And by 'meets' I'm not talking about the actual 1st time they met but that time that you can feel the connection between them! When they both realize how they feel for each other, they live a forbidden love for a while until it comes the time for her to choose her husband... Whom she chooses Henri. The unexpected thing is everything that happens after that! Henri realizing Eadlyn and his best friend are in love, her father helping her to make the decision and the decision itself!

I absolutely loved this book and this series!  Extremely well written having the amazing capacity to make us put ourselves in her place living her love story and wishing things for her like we were actually her! Making us want so bad to live in her world, a beautiful tale of kings, queens, princes and princesses!

Highly recommend it! Such an easy and beautiful reading!
  I give it a totally deserved 4/5!
